SINGAPORE
Has essentially the same population as Melbourne.
But there’s no graffiti, litter, or crack heads.
And they only pay 20% tax.
So how did this tiny island manage to build the best airline in the world? And the best public transport system?
When we can’t even build a train line to Tullamarine.
Or host the Commonwealth Games.
Even with the 50 new taxes Dan Andrews brought in?
What’s even more astonishing is that 60 years ago there was basically nothing in Singapore.
This means they’ve built one of the wealthiest nations in the world OVERNIGHT.
And what has the West done over the last 60 years?
I’d argue we’ve just languished.
Because the West used to have the best cities in the world: Sydney, London, Paris.
But now these cities have been eclipsed by the Modern World to the East.
And to be honest I think that’s kind of embarrassing.
Because instead of innovating and competing, our government is only concerned with controlling every aspect of your life and taxing you into poverty.
Oh, and giving unelected fake aboriginals power.
In Australia you can’t even build on your land anymore. Not in any real sense. Maybe after 10 permits and 3 years you can build something, but it’s not what you wanted to build in the first place.
And starting a business? Who would do that with all the taxes, regulations, and liabilities?
Funnily enough, I notice that buildings in Singapore only fly one flag: the national flag.
And I wonder how much this has to do with the country’s success.
Because at home I barely see the Australian flag.
And I think that’s emblematic of the fact that we aren’t a united nation heading in a unified direction.
We’re a nation at war.
It’s a civil war.
And we’re fighting over land, property, identity, and money.
But instead of being a violent hot war, this war is political.
And, gradually, you can see the effects of this war.
Property rights are being eroded.
Money is going from one race of people to another.
And cities are being renamed.
And all of this is fine, if you want to be at war.
But you have to remember that some parts of the world are more concerned with ADVANCING.
And becoming better.
So whilst we waste time in-fighting, we’re losing our place on the world stage.
And the issue is that societies degrade slowly.
It’s almost imperceptible to those people living within them.
Until one day, 60 years has passed, and you notice that in that time the axis of the world has shifted completely.
And you’re trying to figure out how to build one train line from Tullamarine to Southern Cross.
And in the meantime, Singapore has constructed one of the most efficient train systems in the world. And built incredible wealth for its citizens. And built public housing for 80% of the population.
And maybe you notice this and it’s a wake up call. Or maybe you just ignore it.
