COMMUNISM BY STEALTH
Did you know that 1 in 5 Australian workers are employed by the government?
This statistic haunts me.
And this figure only includes those directly employed by government.
It doesn’t include the countless lawyers, consultants, accountants, etc that are dependent on government work.
The productive among us are supporting a ballooning bureaucrat class that’s detached from commercial reality: there is no need for them to perform their jobs with any level of skill, care, or speed. The tax money will roll in regardless of whether they perform or not.
I made a short post about this the other day on 𝕏 and the responses that I got were extremely concerning.
Apparently, a significant portion of our population believes that the public service actually requires 20% of the workforce in order to function: that this is necessary to run services like schools, hospitals, the police force etc.
Thinking critically, I think this is disingenuous and they take this position out of self-interest.
Because now that so much of our economy is dependent on this bloated public service, people have a vested interest in keeping the status quo. In some ways I understand - if I had a cushy public service job, I would be afraid to lose it as well.
The thought of doing actual hard work in the private sector must terrify these people: real KPIs, real clients, having to solve problems instead of creating them. They would crumble under that pressure.
Because once you have become used to the easy life, it becomes very difficult to go back. People become addicted to it. This is why we have so much welfare.
Another figure that blows my mind: 30% of the Federal budget is spent on welfare.
The portion of the population that is getting propped up by the productive class gets bigger the more you dig.
Parasites are everywhere - sucking the capitalists and hard workers dry.
Mooching off their labor and output.
And the productive only have themselves to blame.
The doctrine of personal responsibility dictates that they have acted in some manner that has led to this outcome.
This is good.
Because if we got ourselves into this mess, then we can get ourselves out of it.
It starts by just saying no.
